CYCLISTS PREPARE FOR PHILA. INTERNATIONAL CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIP ACROSS THE GLOBE

Nearly 200 professional cyclists will contest the 28th running of the Philadelphia International Cycling Championship and prepare for this training around the country and around the world.

Teams like Bissell Pro Cycling and Team Exergy were in full effort at the recent Amgen Tour of California, the top stage race in the U.S., using the tough courses and top-level teams for both competition and high-end training.

Riders such as Canadian Zach Bell and American Michael Chauner are racing at the top levels in Europe.  Chauner raced with Team Bike4Air, a Dutch Team, that just competed in the 60th running of the Olympia’s Tour, sponsored by Royal Smilde, which takes place over 6 days in Holland.  Chauner will ride for Team Cykelcity.se in Philadelphia.

American-based teams such as UnitedHealthcare and Jelly Belly presented by Kenda spent weeks overseas in Asian countries at races such as the Tour of Korea and Tour de Langkawi, getting early-season hot weather exposure that could benefit them for the typical warm temperatures of June in Philadelphia.
